Fitch Ratings reposes faith in India story

Despite the strain on the fisc on account of the oil price hike and tax cuts, Fitch Ratings does not want to revise India ratings at the moment. Fitch expects the central bank to continue with further tightening to tackle high inflation.

“Notwithstanding the current subsidy bill on account of high oil prices, we have to note the improvements in the last five years. The government is much better equipped to handle the fiscal implications of the oil price hike, though its stressed,” Fitch Ratings Asia-Pacific sovereign rating MD James McCormack told ET. “We still subscribe to the long-term growth story for India,” he added. .....(Read more..)
